Analysis of Kalabsha Area - Inventory Admission

1. Potential resources

This area provides a high potential for foreshore agriculture, although environmental, ecological and economical aspects must be considered within this development.
There is also a high potential for upland agriculture:
The main criteria for potential areas are the soil quality, the distance to the Lake and the altitude, as 210 m being the maximum for economically viable water pumping.

2. Transportation Development

As Kalabsha has already access to existing transportation, the future development means an even greater opportunity.
The main connection between Aswan and Abu Simbel, by road and by train, is tangent to the area in the west. Linking roads guarantee short connection.
Karkar and Aswan are nearby and therefore quick access to further transportation possibilities is available.
At Karkar a high speed train and a high way to the north are going to be developed.
In the east there is a cruiser line with possible harbours at Kalabsha City and Garf Hussein, however, it is more for tourist purpose.
An improved costal street linked to the main road goes through the area to east Toshka and is an infrastructure feature as well as for tourist one.
A national airport service is provided between Karkar and Aswan and is going to expand.
